‘Throw Your CDs Away’ is one of my favourite tracks on the EP. It was originally written on the hill circa 2011, but the original file became corrupted and the track was lost. It was rescued in 2019 for this project.
Throw your CDs away’s psychedelic edge is inspired by the fluctuating waves of consciousness that you can sometimes experience when tripping. Bursts of intensity, calm, light and dark.
Detuned analogue chords and 8-bit stabs give this track an immediate vibe. Reverse synth strikes punctuate the rolling subs and gurgling bass, whilst amen breaks and filthy hoover stabs subtly sneak in to add drama. The classic 303 arpeggio brings the authentic 90s trippy vibe. The sample comes from a documentary about cannabis psychosis.
